Upgrading from V3
Data Sync V6 can be installed alongside Data Sync V3. You should be able to install Data Sync V6 without affecting your V3 projects unless you change the target path in the Run Tool and Task Scheduler.
This means you can run a test to ensure each of your projects will open and run within the latest version of Data Sync.
It can also use the same license key you are already using without needing to uninstall V3.
Connectors that have been removed
When considering whether to upgrade to Version 6 you need to keep in mind which connectors your existing projects are using as some have been removed from the connection list.
Some are available to download from our Github website and others have been removed completely or superseded by another connector.
The connectors available to be installed from Github are:
- Podio
- MySQL
- DB Schema Sync
- Mongo DB
- WinSCP
- Oracle
- PostgresSQL
You can install these from the file menu by selecting Install Data Connector and then selecting the connector to install.
The table below shows the connectors that have been removed from Data Sync and what their replacement connector is if there is one.

If there are any of the above connectors you want to use that do not have a replacement please contact us at support@simego.com and we can discuss if these can be added back into Data Sync V6.
Porting the Connection Library
Data Sync V6 has a separate registry to V3 and so you will need to copy your connection library files over ot the new location.
The V3 registry can be found at : C:\ProgramData\Simego\DataSyncStudio30\Registry
Copy these files into the following path to be able to access your normal connection library: C:\ProgramData\Simego\DataSyncStudio60\Registry.
Remember that if you save a new connection library connection in Data Sync V6 it will not be available in V3, and vice versa.
Make sure to open your projects to ensure they open and run as expected.
Updating the Run Tool and Task Scheduler
Once you are sure your projects are working as expected and the connections are all available within V6 you cna update the scheduled task within Windows task scheduler to use the updated path to the run tool or Data Sync.
If you used the shortcut within the path of %DATASYNCINSTALLPATH% then change this to %DATASYNCINSTALLPATH60%.
Otherwise if you listed the full path to the Run Tool exe file you need to update this to be: "C:\Program Files\Simego\Data Synchronisation Studio 6.0\Simego.DataSync.Run.exe".
If you are not using the Run Tool to run the projects and scheduled a single Data Sync project you need to update the path to: "C:\Program Files\Simego\Data Synchronisation Studio 6.0\Simego.DataSync.Studio.exe".

Encryption Keys
If you have encryption keys installed in Data Sync then you will need to copy the encryption files over from the Data Sync V3 program data folder to the Data Sync V6 program data folder.
You should copy the encryption folder, which will contain the Ouvvi encryption file, and the encryption key file (datasync.studio.key) within the main folder.
Please do not copy across the other folders inside the Program Data folder as there are differences in V6. Copying more than the encryption files could break your configuration.
You can find the Data Sync version 3 encryption files at the following path: C:\ProgramData\Simego\DataSyncStudio30
These need to be copied into the Data Sync Version 6 path which is: C:\ProgramData\Simego\DataSyncStudio60
Default Opening Program
If you find your Data Sync projects are opening as V3 rather than V6, please check the windows default file association for *.dsprj files. If you choose Open with in Windows file explorer you can set the default program to be Data Sync V6.
